Below are some of the couses we offer, but we can custom-create a seminar for your group or organization to cater to your specific needs:
Awareness, Safety and Personal Protection (ASPP) Seminars
These non-lethal seminars are designed for businesses, government agencies and other groups that are concerned about staff, employee or customer safety. Walz-Lund has an extensive inventory of topics, heavily researched to ensure accuracy and quality instruction. We offer training in workplace violence, armed robbery prevention, abduction and hostage situations, dealing with hostile people, resolving conflicts, street and parking lot safety and many other topics.
Walz-Lund offers training to the general public with topics such as, home safety, scams, criminal predators and safety courses for the elderly, women and children.

This segment includes: General Information about robberies; Understanding the motivation of an armed robber; Robbery prevention tips; Being a good witness by paying attention to details; Procedures before, during and after an armed robbery; Profile of a typical armed robber.
This training will assist in the prevention of an armed robbery, help ensure employees’ safety during such an ordeal, and assist law enforcement with apprehension of suspects.
Parking Lot/Ramps/Elevators/Stairwell Safety
This segment includes: Choosing a parking place; Using your keys as a weapon; What to do prior to leaving a building and getting into your car; Avoiding stairwells; Engaging someone in an elevator to minimize a threat.
This training will benefit employees and enhance their safety while at work and in their daily lives.
Dealing with Conflict and Hostility
This segment includes: Proper reaction to hostile people; Physiological effects of a hostile confrontation; Methods to deal with these effects; Personal conduct and verbal de-escalation techniques; Reading body language; Acting assertive without being aggressive; Posture and bearing; Dealing with hostility over the telephone.
This training is for employees that come in contact with the general public. They will learn techniques to bring a hostile confrontation under control, minimize disruption in the workplace and prevent escalation of a hostile encounter.
Drug and/or Alcohol Users
This segment includes: Characteristics of Methamphetamine Psychosis; Recognizing a meth user; Dangers of confronting a meth user; Signs of marijuana use; Signs of alcohol abuse; Chemical abuse overlap; How to effectively deal with marijuana users and alcohol abusers.
Chemical abuse is often a contributing factor in a hostile confrontation. This training will arm employees with the knowledge to recognize such abuse. It is also beneficial in recognizing and dealing with employees, co-workers, and potential new hires that may have a chemical dependency problem.
Home Security and Travel Safety
This program covers general home safety methods and safety while traveling and includes: Doors, locks and alarms; Windows, lighting and shrubbery; Psychology of burglars and predators; Home invasion strategies; Airport security; Automobile rental, motor home and RV travel; Hotel safety and criminal ploys; Cell phone safety.
Home invasions and criminal incidents while traveling are becoming more prevalent. Everyone can benefit from tips and methods to improve their safety in and around their home and while traveling away from home.
This segment includes: Non-employee intrusion; Intrusion prevention; Disgruntled employees; Recognizing employees under stress; Warning signs; Workplace violence prevention tips; Work environment security and emergency procedures; Threat management plans; Minimizing workplace stress.
Workplace violence is the fastest growing form of murder in the United States. This training is beneficial to employees as well as employers. It teaches the warning signs of tendencies toward violence and methods to keep themselves and other co-workers safe. It also assists employers with policies and procedures to provide a safe workplace environment.
Safety for the Elderly and Care Providers
This training includes: Safety while traveling by automobile; Approaching unfamiliar places; Looking out for your client; Scams, identity theft, warning signs; Dealing with belligerent or confrontational people; Law enforcement communication.
This training is designed to assist professional care givers and family members in keeping elderly clients and family members safe.
Outdoor Worker Safety
This training includes: Approaching an unfamiliar property; Urban and rural settings; Observation and analysis; Recognition of dangerous signs, drugs or drug activity; Positioning of vehicle; Actions if people are present; Verbal de-escalation techniques.
This training targets the safety challenges facing people who work outdoors, travel routinely, or spend time in unfamiliar surroundings. Regardless of position, profession, blue or white collar, participants will greatly benefit from the information and methods presented.
ASPP for Young Women & Girls Age 16-24
Topics covered by this training include: Parking lot safety; Traveling tips, Cell phone security; Date rape; Less than lethal force options; Confronting a stranger; Places to avoid; Carjacking; Abduction.
This training seminar is offered exclusively for girls and young ladies ages 16-24. It provides knowledge and tools to help keep you safe, whether you have just started dating, are going away to college, entering the workforce, or just want to take responsibility for your own personal safety.
A parent or guardian must accompany any attendee under the age of 18.
